A growing area of industrial solutions provider BMG’s filtration services is bulk diesel fuel filtration. Tanks which are used for fuel storage are fitted with BMG’s OMTEC spin-on filters that have been specially designed to clean diesel fuel to ISO 4406 standards, with a cleanliness level of 18/16/13.
BMG Fluid Technology division filtration specialist Hanli Schutte warns that “burning contaminated fuel can cause significant damage to equipment’s fuel injectors, pumps and other fuel system components, which leads to reduced efficiency, equipment failure and costly downtime. The control and prevention of contamination of fuel is critical for optimum performance, improved reliability and extended service life of machinery, equipment and vehicles.”
All BMG filtration systems use advanced technology to ensure fluids are within the required cleanliness standards. These systems comprise OMTEC ECO Blue Filters and FG desiccant breathers.
Schutte assures that BMG’s OMTEC ECO spin-on elements enable “quick, effortless and efficient servicing of the fuel filtration system”, without the need for specialised tooling, lifting equipment or elevated work platforms. With these filtration systems, the filter media has greater protection from environmental contamination during installation and maintenance, than those using conventional cartridge-style elements.
BMG’s ECO spin-on elements comprise three spin-on cartridges and water-repellent cartridges and offer 3 µm to 6 µm ratings and a working pressure of 24 bar.
This range is suitable for efficient filtration and water absorption for all diesel fuels and is used largely by transport companies and in mobile equipment, mining, construction and agricultural machinery.
